THE SPACED are ...

TTHE SPACED say ‘Put your thoughts on remote control’

The four members of The Spaced have played both types of music (Eastern and Western) in at least 350 different combos with a combined 180 years of experience.

They share a love of echo, small rehearsal rooms, songs in the key of E and B demolished and late-night/mid-morning shock jocks. The hunting ground for inspiration is the Concordia Club in Tempe, Sydney, Australia. One day they hope to play there.

Many things* have been written about The Spaced. They have been described as a ‘bad trip in the doorway of your mind’ ... but this is only part of the story.

All they can suggest is you adjust your periscope, hold on tight, and set the controls for the heart of the nearest crab nebula.

         Love, The Spaced

Stevie “Mooncat” started off in his hometown of Girvan in Scotland with the Barney Rubble Blues Band followed by The Plastic Fantastic Lobster, before moving to Glasgow to make some serious racket with The Paisley Underground/Tombstones/Zoo [the name changes necessary just to get gigs]. Which is where the Australian connection actually starts through their cover of Lance & Martin’s [Home and Away] Primeval Man. Also, the all too brief brilliance of the Transformed Men.

In 2005, Stevie formed and ended up getting thrown out of Sydney band 3D TV, which is just as well as they were pretty shite and led to him forming The Spaced with Pete “Pedro Veldez” Veliks. Speaking of whom...

Pedro is a multi-instrumentalist, improvisor, producer, collaborator and procrastinator, based in Sydney, Australia. But that sounds a bit wanky (especially for a garage band), so let’s not use it...

Pedro thinks the correct spelling is Kosmiche and thinks the sound of his coffee machine would make a great track on the next cee dee.

He enjoys walking his sitar and tuning his dog.

Pedro is currently endorsed by Coronet Amplifiers and uses .05mm picks (Stevie prefers plectrums).

Dave was born in Nottingham Forest two days after the start of the Crimean War.

He went on to be the drummer boy at all subsequent wars that he was invited to, as well beating the skins for Way Of The West and Geoffrey Datson & Annette Hughes.

While on vacation in Jamaica in 1992 he was involved in the ‘Kingston dub wars’ and luckily found refuge in the burnt out remains of the Black Ark studios. He can often be found ‘aving a knees up round the old Johanna and enjoying jellied eels in the Queen Vic.

Mitch plays bass and enjoys the company of bowel and gizzard shaking frequencies.

As Stevie’s guitar “tuner” and faulty lead consultant he brings to The Spaced much needed togetherness and ... world peace.

Mitch is sponsored by  Bobs's Amp Shack.
